Monak
Monak is a cross-border fintech platform built to empower migrant workers by providing seamless financial services across both their home and host countries. Through a single digital platform, Monak enables migrants to access banking, digital wallets, payment cards, international remittances, insurance, micro-financing, and everyday financial services designed specifically for their cross-border lifestyle.
The company initially focuses on serving migrant workers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Egypt who are employed across the GCC, with an initial market focus on Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
Egypt represents one of Monak’s highest strategic priorities. As one of the co-founders is Egyptian, the company has a deep understanding of the financial challenges faced by Egyptian migrant workers and their families. Egyptians living and working abroad are estimated to number up to 14 million globally, with nearly half residing across the Arab region. This large and underserved community represents a significant part of Monak’s long-term vision and business strategy.
Monak’s unique value proposition is its ability to connect migrants’ financial lives across borders by enabling users to manage both their host-country and home-country financial accounts within a single application. By removing friction from cross-border banking and payments, Monak helps migrant workers manage their income, support their families, and build long-term financial security.
To support its expansion, Monak has already secured key regulatory and strategic milestones, including a PSP license in the Philippines, a wallet license in Bangladesh, signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Enovate Egypt and One Bank in Egypt, and a strategic partnership with Mastercard.
