sorozano
Arabic-first mental math app that turns Soroban training into a daily game for kids aged 4–18.
About the startup
Sorozano is a B2C, self-serve mental arithmetic platform built in Arabic for children aged 4–18 across the Arab world, starting with the Gulf.
The problem: Soroban and mental math training in the region is still delivered the old way — physical centers, WhatsApp-based enrollment, manual follow-up, and fees that put it out of reach for most families. Quality depends entirely on the individual instructor, parents get almost no visibility into progress, and children drop off after a few weeks because it feels like extra homework.
What we built: a native mobile and web app with a structured curriculum of 182 skills covering the full Soroban path — simple addition and subtraction, Small Friends, Big Friends, multiplication and division — plus 25 progressive Anzan (visual mental calculation) levels. Every exercise is auto-generated, auto-corrected and adaptive, so a child can progress without an instructor in the room.
Engagement is the core of the product. Sorozano runs a game layer on top of the curriculum: a three-currency reward economy, daily streaks, avatars, weekly leagues with 42 competitive tiers, real-time 1v1 matches against friends, tournaments with server-side anti-cheat, and a power-records engine tracking accuracy, speed, endurance, focus and working memory.
Parents get their own dashboard with progress reports, behavioral analytics and notifications — the kind of visibility traditional centers cannot offer.
Business model: freemium subscription. The free tier unlocks the foundational curriculum; the Super tier unlocks advanced levels and premium content. Seat-based subscriptions and activation codes let one parent cover several children, and let partner academies onboard students in bulk.
Traction: Sorozano is currently running a live pilot with two online academies — Pi Math Academy and SoroZen Academy — where Gulf students train on the platform with certified Egypt-based coaches. The pilot gives us continuous pedagogical feedback, real usage data, and a validated path to launch.
Vision: to make world-class mental arithmetic training accessible to every Arabic-speaking child at a fraction of the cost of a physical center — then open the platform as a B2B layer so any school, training center or academy in the region can run its students, curriculum and competitions on Sorozano's infrastructure.
